Anti-Trafficking Statement
Our platform, Lewd (lewd.net, Lewd Network, the "Service") is a social and content-driven platform, managed by Safewords (the "Company"), designed to allow safe interactions between consenting adults. We actively fight against and strongly oppose human trafficking and other forms of abuse by providing our users and team essential tools to report and take action immediately.
In line with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, we are committed to providing full transparency regarding our company policies, communications, and disclosing all instances of content that we've taken action against to necessary governing bodies. While not obligated to by law, we will also provide quarterly transparency reports publicly.
Our Promise
The Service and Company are committed to mitigating risks of human trafficking and other forms of abuse by providing tools to our users to actively report this to our team. We also utilize automated efforts, including in-house algorithms, to detect and automatically report Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and other agencies.
The Company is committed to preventing such human trafficking and abuse from occurring within our business operations. Some of the steps we take to accomplish this include (but is not limited to):
- mandatory human trafficking and sexual abuse training;
- company-wide focus on content moderation as our primary hiring role;
Any violations by employees may result in disciplinary action, including termination.
Our Ethics
We believe that the safety of our visitors, users, and content creators is paramount; includes actively preventing and eliminating content and interactions that endanger others.
Our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines prohibit the uploading, posting, or sharing of content on our Service that promotes, advertises, or displays escort services, sex trafficking, and prostitution. In addition, we do not allow for the monetization of any content or otherwise the usage of our Service itself, without verifying the identity and age of all account holders.
This is crucial to ensuring that our Service takes the necessary steps to prevent bad actors or individuals engaging in human trafficking from benefiting financially from our platform. In the case that abuse occurs, we may use this identity information, if needed, to share with reporting agencies.
Our Risks and Mitigations
Lewd monitors, analyzes, and identifies the risks of our business. At this time, this assessment and planned mitigations is based solely on our own internal standards, however as we grow and officially launch in 2023, we will continuously learn and adjust our risk assessment as deemed necessary.
Content
User-generated content, regardless of the social platform, includes the risk of material being uploaded that violates our own policies and/or laws, such as CSAM and other exploitative material.
Mitigation Efforts
We monitor all content uploaded to the Service. When necessary, we remove all content that violates our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines; including the facilitation or participation in exploitation and human trafficking.
Prior to content being displayed to visitors or other users, we use a series of in-house algorithms and technologies to catch many instances of abusive content. All content is also compared against databases used by reporting agencies to detect and prevent human trafficking and CSAM. When offending content is detected, the content is automatically reported to NCMEC and other agencies, is deleted from our Service, and we immediately suspend the associated account and share related information to law enforcement and non-governmental organizations
Our moderators manually review all content reported by our visitors or users within 24 hours; escalating and taking action against any content suspected of human trafficking.
Users / Creators
Lewd requires that all visitors and users of our Service are at least eighteen years of age, and considered an adult in their region. We take additional steps to ensure that any purchases or payments received are safe, consented and permitted by the card-holder, and legal.
Mitigation Efforts
We verify the identify of all individuals who wish to directly monetize their content on our platform ("Creators"). We do so by requiring each Creator to submit an application to ensure it is made on their behalf.
Our Creator application requires manually providing the legal name and an identity document (such as a driver's license, birth certificate). Depending on other factors such as region or high-risk jurisdiction, we may also require identification via a "selfie" photo. At our own digression, we may require Creators to re-verify their identity.
We utilize "KYC" (Know Your Customer) methods to prevent abuse of our Service and financial accounts. To prevent circumvention, these methods are propriety and kept private.
Business / Employment
As our Service consists of just our founding executive team and content moderators, we consider our business operations as low risk, as all roles are comprised of professional and qualified individuals.
Mitigation Efforts
As we expand our operations, we will initially prioritize employment within the United States of America, Canada, and the United Kingdom, to slightly lessen the risks of human trafficking and abuse.
Third-Parties
We consider our third-party partnerships as low risk, as we conduct extensive research into the companies, products, and services we may utilize throughout development.
Mitigation Efforts
Our team will continue to research all proposed partnerships and/or services we utilize in the running of our Company or Service to ensure compliance with this statement.
Other efforts to mitigate risk include a universal "report" system; allowing any visitor or user to report an account, direct message, or content/post suspected of human trafficking or abuse. These reports are reviewed and monitored by our moderators within 24 hours. Any content that indicates immediate physical danger relating to human trafficking or abuse can be reported directly to us at [email protected].
In addition, suspected violations of any law by the Company, including human rights violations or human trafficking can be reported at any time via [email protected]. We will respond to all communications received with the highest priority. All substantiated concerns will receive immediate corrective action, including termination.
